We are the Mien Project.
A project specially founded to help the elderly women of the Mien tribe in our village earning much needed money and keeping the old traditions alive.
Our goal is to support old Mien women of the last generation possessing the knowledge and skills of a very unique stitching technique called cross stitching, by helping them merchandising products infusing the beauty of old tribal stitching with modern product designs. By making the skill of cross stitching valuable again we also want to motivate the younger generation in learning more about their traditions and heritage, which run the risk of getting lost. (learn more About the danger of losing traditions)
As a matter of course the whole profit of our online shop goes directly to our embroiderer as helping them is our top priority. We especially take pride in the fact that every step of our production is made by hand and that no product is like another.
